Website news (Reporter: Wei Xiuqin) The research result of Professor Wang Dehua’s research group of School of Resource and Environmental Science, an instructive summarized thesis of research on the mechanism of electroreduction of solid compounds in molten salt, is recently published on line by the top-class chemical journal of the world,`1 Chemical Society Reviews.
Chemical Society Reviews is a flagship academic journal published by Royal Society of Chemistry of England. With an SCI impact factor of 24.892, it is one of the most authoritative review academic journals of chemistry at present. The publication of the thesis is a sign of new breakthrough in the research of over 10 years on molten salt electrochemistry of our school. The research group has grown as a scientific research team with unique characteristics, high competitiveness and high influence.
The title of the thesis is “The Process of Electrochemical Reduction of Solid Compound in High-temperature Molten Salt”. The corresponding author is Wang Dehua, and the first author is Dr. Xiao Wei. In the thesis, the authors systematically analyzed and summarized all kinds of reaction mechanisms of molten salt to electrolyze solid compound, and discussed the influence of different reaction mechanisms on the composition, microstructure of electrolytic product, and the energy efficiency of the electrolytic process, which provides scientific foundation for improving the economic and environmental competitiveness of relevant technology, and accelerate its industrialization.
Recently, aiming at the strategic demands of sustainable development of resources and environment, the research group of Wang Dehua and the cooperators combine the old proposition of high-temperature molten salt technology and the new hot issue of efficient cyclic utilization of resources and environment, and conducted a series of innovative researches on key scientific and technical issues in the field of “energy-saving and cost-reducing, sustainable utilization of resources, development of space resources”. Based on the advantage of electrochemistry of our school, these researches facilitate the formation of discipline characteristic with combination of molten salt electrochemistry and sustainable development of resources and environment. Some of the research results have been published on the top-class journal of chemistry - Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and top-class international journal of the field of energy and environment-Energy and Environmental Science.
